Piyush Dadhich – Story of a Hindi medium average guy to holding five top degrees in finance:
It is said that where there is a will, there is a way… This guy from a very small town who has proved that if you have a desire to do something, your grit can become eagle wings to resist through all the hurdles.
Piyush Dadhich, 25, born and brought up in a very small town Tal Chhapar of Churu District, Rajasthan, had studied till Class 12 in a very small Hindi medium school with the average marks. Unlike other guys, he loved to ride bicycle and was never serious for his studies, busy in bicycle races in the same small town.
His mumma, being a single mother and the only earner of the family had pampered him a lot from the beginning but was very worried about his career. His elder sister and his mother decided to send him to Calcutta for a graduation. His sister, Abhilasha, sacrificed her urban studies to support her mother at home. He anyhow managed living apart at Calcutta with his maternal uncle and all his cousins who gave him a good support and a company. Things were still not easy for this average guy and no college was ready to offer him an admission due to average marks in higher secondary. Then, a very small college granted him an admission in B. Com (H) on the request of his maternal uncle. Students used to tease, insult him for having a hindi background and no fluency in English language. This did not discourage him at all but proved as a negative motivation for him. Then, he developed his English communication skills as he realized that it is a necessity and his hard work made him to secure good marks in the 1st year of college itself which was a great thing of surprise and at the same time a shock for most of the people. After getting good marks in 1st year, he applied and secured admission in pretty decent college for 2nd year and ended up being the topper of the college for the B. Com (Hons) batch of 2011.
While pursuing B. Com 1st year, he felt that this is not the end and just the beginning. He took no time to take the decision to start Chartered Accountancy and Company Secretary courses. He was discouraged by many relatives around that this course is the toughest and not meant for him, but this self-motivated guy took no time to clear all the levels of CA at one shot and was awarded as the YOUNGEST CA of EIRC at the age of 19 by the ICAI. He missed the rank by only 3 marks. Along with that, he also completed his CS at the same age. He also cleared all levels of CS exam at first attempt. After all “Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success”
After clearing CA and CS, he got a good offer from ICICI Bank and started the career with a bang. He used to feel that this is not something he is made for. There were already many CAs in family and he wanted to do something which is not mainstream. So, while serving at ICICI Bank as a Credit Manager, he started his CFA (US) and FRM (US) studies. It was very difficult to complete all his office work and leave for classes by 5PM. His superior and peers supported him well with the flexible timings. However, this guy used to complete all his work and also used to do extra work of peers with the Cheetah speed. Thereby, he was awarded as the Best Credit Manager in East Region of ICICI Bank. “There is no secret to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from hurdles. This made him realize that he cannot stop himself with what he has started.
He managed his job, classes and studies for these courses and at one shot. And then, finally, he cleared all the levels of CFA and FRM one after one without any stoppage with above average percentile in first attempt. This was the greatest achievement in his entire life. These are the top finance yet toughest courses across globe. According to him “Nothing is difficult if you have a firm determination towards it” He hardly used to sleep and used to study day and night with same interest.
“Consistency is all that is required”. He never took another attempt for any of the exams he has appeared as of date. He used to encourage students through his Facebook page CA Tips (has around 50k likes) in his CA days which used to keep himself motivated at the same time.
He is currently working with Cognizant in NASDAQ account as a Senior Research Analyst. Also, he is a visiting faculty for ACCA at Christ University. He loves encouraging students. According to him “We should not wait for the right time to come, we should make the time – a right time for us
